THE CHALLENGE
A touring show that outpaced its logistics plan
The management company behind Les Misérables: The Arena Concert Spectacular was moving the show from Brisbane to Taipei and required precise transport under extreme time pressure.
The shipment, which consisted of fourteen 40’ high-cube containers, exceeded the capacity of a single B747-400F aircraft. As the production evolved mid-tour, additional equipment was added, increasing the complexity and requiring continuous adjustments to planning expectations. This created a constrained operational environment where routing, consolidation, and air capacity had to be optimized immediately.
At the same time, customs documentation kept changing with the addition of new equipment and heightened the risk of delays or compliance bottlenecks.
THE SOLUTION
An integrated multimodal strategy designed for speed and performance
ICAT deployed a fully coordinated air, sea, and road solution to ensure all equipment could be transported within the required timeframe.
Our team was on-site at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, where airline pallets were constructed within the venue, completely bypassing traditional airport warehouse handling. This approach introduced critical flexibility and eliminated redundant transfers between the venue and warehouse, significantly reducing handling time and mitigating risk across the entire operation.
Meanwhile, customs documentation was continuously updated with evolving shipment scope to remain compliant across all jurisdictions and prevent clearance delays.
THE RESULTS

Through disciplined operational control and immediate action, the production was delivered successfully from Brisbane to Taipei within a 5-day load-out-to-load-in window, meeting all critical deadlines. Despite the production’s ever-changing needs and capacity restrictions, the project remained on budget, on schedule, and compliant.
